About the Heifers

This is my second Bred Heifer Sale and 2020 makes 48 years that I have been raising Simmental cattle. I still feel that Simmentals are the best breed of cattle and am still enthusiastic about raising them.

This year’s heifers were in two groups, one at home and the other group in Dundurn Community Pasture. The few that were at home for the summer have a lot more condition on them. Genetically they are of equal quality.

The black heifers are bred to SVS Gold Key 919G, a bull that I purchased out of Sunny Valley’s bull sale this past spring. His calving ease EPDs are very high, along with his growth EPDs. 

The Full Blood heifers are all Full Fleckvieh and all but one is polled. These heifers are bred to Virginia Lafleur 4F. I purchased him last year out of the Bull Spectrum Sale. His is a very thick Polled FFFB bull and was one of the high sellers that year. I used him on heifers last year and had mixed results on calving ease. His calves are all medium framed and very thick.

I have made sure that all the heifers in this sale are not high-headed and hope they will go on to lead productive lives for their new owners.

LAKEVIEW GISSELLE 2G PFF 

CFM 2G is a Double Polled FFFB that is quiet and very easy keeping. This heifer is very hard to part with however I have too many cattle and need to cut back. She is bred to calve around the middle of Jan and is from a very good Eclectic cow that always has a top calf.  Bred April 7, safe Lafleur. LAKEVIEW GEORGIE 4G PFF

CFM 4G is a deep bodied single Polled heifer that is all volume. 4G is very quiet and easy to handle. She has large goggles and lip pigment. A quality heifer here with superior breeding that will add to any herd. Bred May 15 Lafleur. Click for photo.

LAKEVIEW MS EASTWOOD 8G

CFM 8G is a fancy black heifer with some chrome. She is from a small framed cow that can raise a big calf. Her bull calf is in the bull pen this year. CFM 8G is bred to SVS GOLD KEY who is solid black so this could result in a black blaze faced calf. Bred April 14, GOLD KEY. Click for photo.

LAKEVIEW MS CONGO 11G

CFM 11G is a black goggle eyed big framed Polled PB heifer that is very quiet. She is from a big framed cow that weaned one of the biggest steer calves this fall. There is a lot of potential here for very meaty calves without compromising frame. Bred end of April, GOLD KEY. Click for photo.

LAKEVIEW MS DEXTER 19G PFF

CFM 19G is a Double Polled FFFB heifer with a lot of volume. She is almost blaze faced. This heifer is an eye appealing dark red with a lot of extra length. Bred 8+ months, April 14 Lafleur. Click for photo.

LAKEVIEW MS DEXTER 23G PFF

CFM 23G is the other twin and was adopted to another cow. She is the bigger twin so could be a larger framed cow. A lighter red with very feminine head and features. Bred April 18, Lafleur. Click for photo.

CFM 24G is a black faced heifer that is half Fleckvieh. Her dam CFM 1E is from one of the top cow families here, that always has outstanding calves! This heifer is quiet and always catches attention! Bred 7 months, GOLD KEY. Click for photo.

CFM 30G is going to be a small framed cow. Her dam is a medium framed cow that always keeps her condition. She is long-spined with a quiet disposition that she is sure to pass on to her offspring. She comes from a long line of dams with ideal udders. Bred April 18, Lafleur. Click for photo.

LAKEVIEW GLORIANA 37G PFF

CFM 37G is a Sale Feature. Barry Labatte has a full sister CFM29B that raised a French Attack heifer that brought $34,000 at the 2018 Simmsational Sale. This heifer is very quiet and hard to part with, but I have a full sister in production here. This heifer has a very bright future. Bred to Virginia Lafleur and should be an interesting calf. Rare genetics here. CFM 45G is a Double Polled FFFB heifer. Her Dam 79D goes back to a Polled Arnolds Image son. She has a very distinctive style to her. She is dark red with goggles. Bred April 10 Lafleur. Click for photo.

CFM 50G is a black blazed heifer and is a real pet with an exceptional temperament. She is as thick as they come and has a potential to be front pasture cow! She is bred early to SVS GOLD KEY and should calve in early January. Bred Mar. 31 GOLD KEY. Click for photo.

CFM 57G is a Double Polled FF heifer and is from CFM 54D who is also a full sister to Barry Labatte’s CFM 29B (see footnote for CFM 37G). There is a very bright future for this heifer, with her regal looks and lots of depth. Bred April 22, Lafleur. 6-7 months. Click for photo.
