BRED HEIFERS SOLD DECEMBER 2019

Sold Polled Full Fleckvieh heifers bred to Virginia La Fleur 4F, Polled Fleckvieh bull; and black mostly half Fleckvieh purebred heifers bred to RSK Eastwood 1E, a blaze-faced Vision son. Most heifers were due in January.

About the Heifers

This group of heifers is the result of 47 years of Simmental breeding! They have been selected for disposition, udder attachment, and growth. In 1985 I A.I.’ed to a Full Fleckvieh bull called Antonius and was impressed! My goal was getting away from the racehorse types that were common at that time. Full Fleckvieh bulls have been used ever since. I have had a hard time to find a calving ease Fleckvieh bull so have been using black Purebreds on first calf heifers. This spring I bought a polled Full Fleckvieh bull with a 65 lb birth weight from Virginia Ranch to use on these Fullblood heifers. Most of these heifers are Full Fleckvieh Fullblood. The black heifers are mostly half Fleckvieh which brings their milk EPDs up. The blacks are bred to a Vision son who calved reasonably well. I did pull some by hand.

These heifers were vaccinated with Cattlemaster Gold, Covexin Plus, and Anthrax in the spring. They spent the summer in the Dundurn Grazing Association pasture and have been worked with horses. They came home on Oct. 15 and were preg checked the next day.

- She is the only heifer that 75Y has ever had, so it is tough to sell her, but a bull or heifer calf from her would be an asset to any herd!

- This black white faced heifer is from a very strong cow family.
- Her Grand Dam 52Z has the best calf in the herd every year. Half Fleckvieh.
- There is a bright future for this heifer with Eclectic and Rangler in her background.
